Almost since Freemasonry began there have been those who have been opposed to and vehemently attacked the order. This attack has come on several grounds, social, political and religious.
While most Masons are familiar with the William Morgan Affair, few realize that this event led to the first third party in American Politics – The Anti-Masonic Party.
Clearly the largest attack against Freemasonry in recent years has come from Fundamentalist Christianity. It is somewhat ironic that an organization dedicated to religious tolerance is so often attacked by the religiously intolerant.
